Arctial — a partnership between Rio Tinto, Mitsubishi Corporation, Fortum, ABB, Vargas, Tesi and Siemens Financial Services — has completed its Pre-Feasibility Study for the development of low-carbon primary aluminium production in Kokkola-Kruunupyy, Finland.

Ramboll Finland Oy has completed an assessment of the economic impacts of Arctial's planned low carbon primary aluminium smelter and rolling mill in the Kokkola–Kruunupyy region of Finland. The assessment indicates substantial positive contributions to employment, turnover and tax revenues in Finland during both the construction and operational phases of the project.
